In recognition for his commitment to sports medicine, Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance surgeon, Dr. Allen F. Anderson, has served on the Medical Publishing Board of Trustees of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, which publishes the American Journal of Sports Medicine and SportsHealth, a multidisciplinary approach.  He was also appointed Chairman of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Research Committee and the Board of Directors of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.   At the 2012 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeon’s meeting, he presented an award-winning video on Transepiphyseal Physeal Sparing ACL Reconstruction.  He was also involved in a Symposium on Pediatric Sports Medicine.  At the AAOS Specialty Day in 2012, Dr. Anderson presented another Symposium on ACL Reconstruction in the Skeletally Immature Athlete.  In 2013, he has presented numerous lectures, and he chaired the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Pre-Course on Advances in the Knee, and presented two lectures on Pediatric ACL Reconstruction.  In total, he has published 80 scientific articles in sports medicine books and various sports medical journals.  He has also had 20 scientific exhibits at national/international meetings, 82 national/international presentations, and he has given 30 instructional course lectures to other orthopaedic surgeons.

Dr. Anderson is an Associate Editor of the American Journal of Sports Medicine, and in 2013 he was appointed Associate Editor of the Orthopaedic Journal of Sports Medicine.  This year, he was also appointed to the Board of Directors of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery and Orthopaedic Sports Medicine, and the Executive Committee of the exclusive Herodicus Society.  In addition, he was elected to the presidential line as Vice President of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.  He also served as the “Godfather” for the AOSSM/APKASS Traveling Fellowship to the Pacific Rim Countries in 2013.

Dr. Anderson was voted into America’s Top Orthopaedists in 2013 for the eleventh consecutive year by the Consumer Research Council of America and to the Best Doctors in America by peers, Top Doctors, and Patients’ Choice Recognition Award.

He completed a residency in orthopaedics at Vanderbilt University and is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and in general orthopaedics. He also has a certificate of added qualification for Sports Medicine.
