In recognition for his commitment to sports medicine, Tennessee Orthopaedic Alliance surgeon, Dr. Allen F. Anderson, continues to serve on the Medical Publishing Board of Trustees of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, which publishes the American Journal of Sports Medicine and SportsHealth, a multidisciplinary approach. Recently, he was appointed Chairman of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine Research Scientific Committee, which helps sports medicine physicians conduct scientific research in the United States and he just rotated off the Board of Directors of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine.
In addition, Dr. Anderson served as a test writer for the general orthopaedic boards and the certificate of added qualifications for sports medicine by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons, which provides board certification for orthopaedic surgeons in the United States.
Dr. Anderson was honored by the Nashville Business Journal as a Health Care Hero in 2010. He was voted into America’s Top Orthopaedist in 2011 for the seventh consecutive year by the Consumer Research Council of America and to the Best Doctors in America by Peers, Top Doctors and Patient’s Choice Recognition Award in 2010. In 2010 Dr. Anderson published six peer-reviewed scientific papers and five book chapters. He was also elected to the Canby Robinson Board of Directors, Vanderbilt University in 2010-2013.
At the 2011 American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons Meeting, he presented a featured multimedia educational video on Transepiphyseal, Physeal Sparing Anterior Cruciate Reconstruction. He also was involved in a symposium on Pediatric Sports Medicine: A Case Based Update. At the AOSSM Specialty Day in 2011, Dr. Anderson presented another symposium on ACL Reconstruction in the Skeletally Immature Athlete. In February 2011, Dr. Anderson was named Chairman of the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Orthopaedics Sports Medicine Knee Committee.
